Vaivaswatam is a unique facility established by Avadhoota Datta Peetham under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, on the banks of the sacred Godavari river near Rajahmundry — Dhavaleswaram. It is run by the SGS Datta Gnana Bodha Sabha Rajamundry Trust.
వైవస్వతం అనేది పరమపూజ్య శ్రీ గణపతి సచ్చిదానంద స్వామీజీ వారి మార్గదర్శకత్వంలో అవధూత దత్త పీఠం చేత స్థాపించబడిన ఒక విశిష్టమైన సదుపాయం. ఇది రాజమహేంద్రవరం సమీపంలోని ధవళేశ్వరం వద్ద పవిత్ర గోదావరీ నదీ తీరాన ఉన్నది. దీనిని ఎస్.జి.ఎస్. దత్త జ్ఞాన బోధ సభ రాజమండ్రి ట్రస్ట్ నిర్వహిస్తున్నది.
Here the Nitya Karma following a death — from the third day to the twelfth — may be performed in full. Together with the thirteenth-day Shraaddha, Maasikam, Samvatsara Vimokam and Teertha Shraaddha at Datta Mukti Kshetram, this makes Vaivaswatam an ideal place for dharmikas to offer the last rites and the annual ceremonies for departed parents and relatives — in the immediate vicinity of Lord Dattatreya and Lord Shiva.
ఇక్కడ మరణానంతరం జరుపవలసిన నిత్య కర్మలను — మూడవ రోజు నుండి పన్నెండవ రోజు వరకు — పూర్తిగా నిర్వహించుకోవచ్చు. దత్త ముక్తి క్షేత్రంలో జరిగే పదమూడవ రోజు శ్రాద్ధం, మాసికం, సంవత్సర విమోకం, తీర్థ శ్రాద్ధం వీటితో కలిపి, దివంగతులైన తల్లిదండ్రులకు, బంధువులకు అంత్యక్రియలను, వార్షిక కర్మలను శ్రీ దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామి, శ్రీ శివుని సన్నిధిలో సమర్పించుటకు ధార్మికులకు వైవస్వతం అత్యంత అనుకూలమైన స్థలం.

Not for Ancestral Rites Aloneపితృ కర్మలకు మాత్రమే కాదు
Beyond the rites for the ancestors, the place is well suited to Dattatreya Pooja, Shiva Pooja, Homa and Bhajans. Abhisheka is offered here on every Poornima.
పితృ కర్మలే కాక, ఈ స్థలం దత్తాత్రేయ పూజ, శివ పూజ, హోమం, భజనలకు కూడా ఎంతో అనుకూలమైనది. ఇక్కడ ప్రతి పౌర్ణమి నాడు అభిషేకం జరుగుతుంది.

Vaivasvata — the Name
Vaivasvata (वैवस्वत) refers to Vaivasvata Manu — son of Vivasvan (the Sun God) — who presides as the law-giver of the current cosmic epoch (Vaivasvata Manvantara). He is also known as Vaivasvata Yama — Lord Yama in his role as the righteous king of the departed, who judges souls impartially and assigns their appropriate post-mortem realm.
In the context of Pitru Karyam, Vaivaswatam refers to the special rite and prayer addressed to Vaivasvata Yama to seek his benevolence in granting favourable placement to one’s departed ancestors and in removing obstacles in their onward journey.
The Vaivaswatam Rite
The Vaivaswatam puja is a structured invocation in which Lord Yama — in his compassionate form as Dharmaraja, Lord of Righteousness — is propitiated to: (1) release ancestors trapped in intermediate states due to unresolved attachments or insufficient rites; (2) grant a favourable hearing for the accumulated merit of ancestral rites being performed; and (3) seek forgiveness for lapses in shraddha performance over preceding years.
When Vaivaswatam is Recommended
This rite is specially recommended when a family is uncertain about an ancestor’s gotra or exact death tithi; when recurring dreams feature the departed; when a jyotisha reading indicates Pitr-dosha in the horoscope; and on Yamadwipaka Dipavali day — the annual day of Yama worship observed on the Amavasya before Dipavali.
